Child Safety Standards

Last updated: October 1, 2026

These standards apply to the InOrOut app, published on Google Play and the App Store by Screaming in Digital, and to every service behind it. They describe what we do not allow, what we do when we learn of it, and how to reach us. They are written to meet Google Play’s Child Safety Standards policy and are informed by the Tech Coalition’s industry standards.

Zero tolerance

We do not tolerate child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. That means any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child, including:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video or text that depicts a child in a sexual way. Possessing, uploading or sharing it is illegal, and it is prohibited everywhere in the service.
  • Grooming — befriending or building trust with a child in order to exploit them sexually.
  • Sextortion — threatening a child, or using images of a child, to coerce them into sexual activity or further material.
  • Sexualised comments about or towards a child, and any solicitation of sexual contact with a child.
  • Trafficking a child, or facilitating any of the above.

This applies to chat messages, Forum posts, member names and profile pictures, team profiles and banners, poll pictures, event text and anything else a person can write or upload in the app. It applies whether the person targeted is a member of the app or not.

What we do when we learn of it

When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAE or CSAM in the service we act without delay:

  1. Remove the content. The content is taken down. Where the content is a member’s name or picture it is reset or cleared, and where it is a team’s profile the team is delisted and its profile cleared.
  2. Remove the account. The account behind it is suspended or deleted, and the team that hosted it may block the person for good.
  3. Preserve the evidence. A report keeps a copy of the reported content as it stood when it was reported, so a decision can be made and the material handed over even if it is deleted afterwards. We do not keep CSAM longer than the law and a report to the authorities require.
  4. Report to the authorities. We report CSAM to the relevant authorities as the law requires. In Norway that is the police (tips.politiet.no , Kripos); for other jurisdictions we report to the competent authority or to a recognised hotline such as NCMEC  or an INHOPE  member.
  5. Cooperate. We answer lawful requests from law enforcement and child protection authorities, and we preserve records they ask us to preserve.

A report about child safety is reviewed by the InOrOut team ourselves. It is never left to the admins of the team it came from to decide.

How to report a concern

If you see something in the app that worries you, report it. You do not need to be sure.

  • Report the content in the app. Long-press a chat message, open a member’s profile, or open a Forum post’s menu and choose Report, then the reason Child safety. You can add a note. The report reaches the InOrOut team and the admins of the team it was posted in, and the reported person is never told who reported them.
  • Raise a concern that is not tied to one message. On the Home screen open the ⋮ menu, choose Send feedback and the type Safety concern. You can attach screenshots. This goes straight to our safety mailbox.
  • Email us. Write to safety@inorout.no. You can write in English or Norwegian.

When you send a report with the reason Child safety, or a Safety concern, the app confirms it and offers two links: these standards, and the reporting hotline for your country, an INHOPE member hotline or the national police, so you can also report it to the authorities yourself. If that hotline is not reachable at the time, you are offered INHOPE’s list of hotlines instead.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.

Who may use InOrOut

You must be at least 13 years old to have an InOrOut account, as the Terms of Service state. The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them; the Privacy Policy explains what to do if you believe that has happened.

A team admin may add a managed member — a person without an account, such as a child on a youth team — and record attendance on their behalf. The admin who adds a managed member is responsible for having that person’s, or their guardian’s, permission, and for removing the entry when asked. A managed member has no login and cannot be messaged through the app.

Point of contact

Our designated child safety point of contact can be reached at safety@inorout.no. This address is read by a named person who can speak to our CSAE prevention practices and who handles reports, requests from law enforcement and questions about these standards.

Compliance with law

We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including Norwegian law and the laws of the countries where the app is offered, and with the policies of the stores that distribute it. These standards are reviewed when the law, the stores’ policies or the service change.

  • Terms of Service — the rules every member agrees to, including reporting and moderation
  • Privacy Policy — what we store about a report and for how long
  • Support — how to reach us about anything else
