GDPR & Data Deletion

Last updated: September 27, 2026

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data.

Your Rights

  • Right to access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification: Update or correct your personal data
  • Right to erasure: Request permanent deletion of your account and your personal data
  • Right to data portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to object: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes

Data Export

You can export all your personal data from the app: Profile → Security → Your Data (GDPR) → Export. This provides a JSON file with all data we hold about you — including what you did as a team admin (notices you wrote, blocks you set, decisions you made on reports and Forum posts), with anyone else named by an id only, and pictures as links that expire within days.

One limit protects other people rather than us. If someone reported one of your chat messages, the export includes the report — the message, the decision and when it was taken — but not who reported it or what they wrote about it. Naming the members who reported harassment to the person they reported would put them at risk. For the same reason, a report you filed yourself is exported with your reason and note, but without the other person’s message.

Account & Data Deletion

To delete your account and your personal data:

  1. Open the InOrOut app
  2. Open Profile and tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner
  3. Choose ‘Delete My Account’
  4. Confirm the deletion

Deletion is permanent. Your personal data, team and group memberships, RSVPs and attendance, votes and chat messages are removed within 30 days. What you created for your teams and groups — events, polls, announcements and the Forum posts members could already read — stays with them, without your name. If you are the sole admin of a group that has other members, you must transfer admin rights first; if you are the last member of a team or group who can sign in, delete it first. Invitations sent to your email address are deleted with the account, and a report about you keeps neither your name nor your picture.

Alternative Deletion Request

If you cannot access the app, email support@inorout.no from the email address associated with your account to request data deletion.

For step-by-step instructions, see Request Profile Deletion.
